The 11 STEM K class, made up of 31 diverse students who are described as kind, understanding, passionate, affectionate, and loving, is embarking on a project focused on ethical values. The students, through their varied strengths and qualities, are committed to exploring the importance of virtues and their application in real-life situations. The project seeks to deepen their understanding of what it means to live a virtuous life by addressing ethical dilemmas, discussing moral principles, and reflecting on the real-world impact of virtuous behavior through distinctive models of contemporary times.
BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT
The Digital Magazine Project is an integrated final output for the 11 STEM K students, blending the academic subject of Christian Living and Values Education (CLVE), designed to foster a deeper understanding of ethical values, human flourishing, and social responsibility. This project encourages students to reflect on the theme “How can I become more fully human?” by identifying Gospel values and virtues that contribute to a life of integrity, compassion, and service to others. Through this, students are tasked with exploring sustainable development goals (SDGs) and identifying contemporary Filipino individuals, groups, or organizations that demonstrate these virtues through meaningful advocacy or work aimed at empowering marginalized communities.
PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
This project aims to shed light on valiant Filipino individuals and organizations who dedicate their time to serving the people through various initiatives. The class collaborates through different talents and efforts, utilizing digital media and well-crafted feature articles to highlight each contemporary Filipino figure’s impact and values within the community. By integrating CLVE and SDGs, the project aims to inspire the community to take meaningful action, embody God-given values, notably integrity, excellence, and service, and actively support and live out the advocacies of these role models.
WEBSITE OVERVIEW
Among the vast array of notable service-driven Filipino contemporary individuals and organizations, the class, through collective action, highlights six inspiring role models whose work and values reflect a strong commitment to serving others: Lourdes J. Cruz, Leni Robredo, the Philippine Red Cross, Efren Peñaflorida, Dr. Michael Promentilla, and Risa Hontiveros. The website offers a deeper perspective into their backgrounds and missions through articles, videos, artwork, and other creative outputs. Each part of the website features sections that highlight the integration of CLVE and Gospel values, the impact of each figure, and the talents and contributions of STEM11-K students.
